How to create a blog post template in Elementor

Reading Time: 2 minutes

This blog post contains affiliate links. This means that I may receive a commission – at no extra cost to you – if you click on a link and make a purchase. I only recommend products and services that I use & love - whether an affiliate relationship is in place or not.

“It’s all in the list.” ? I’m sure you’ve heard that plenty of times.

But is your blog bringing in new subscribers like it’s supposed to?

Not all themes come with a blog post template that’s actually set up for conversions. So here’s how you can create your own high-conversion blog post template using Elementor PRO.

The blog post template is what you see when you view a single blog post.

Looking to edit your blog archive page instead? Read How to edit your blog page in WordPress with Elementor.

Once you have Elementor Pro installed, go to the Theme Builder.

  1. Click “Single” and add a new Single template, select Post and give your template a name.
  2. You can start your template by selecting one of the pre-made templates, or start with a blank template and create your own.
  3. Add the post title, featured image, and post content.
  4. You can also add the Post Info, which shows the author, date and time of publication, and the number of comments (or other post info you want to show). Since I try to make my posts evergreen as much as possible, I prefer not to show the date, and all my posts are written by me so I prefer not to show the Post Info at all.
  5. Add Social Sharing buttons and select the social networks you want to show. You can also add Email and Print buttons here.
  6. For the sidebar, start with an image of yourself and a short text about who you are and what you do.
  7. Add a call-to-action for your opt-in freebie in the sidebar.
  8. Add a call-to-action for your opt-in freebie at the bottom of the post.
  9. You can also add a list of related posts or posts from the same category, to keep people reading more on your site, decrease your bounce rate and increase the chances of them signing up for your opt-in freebie.

If you’re happy with how your post template looks, you can hit Publish, add a condition to display it on all posts and click Save & Close. Now if you view a blog post, you can see the template you designed. And if you go to another post, you can see it has the same template.

So now you know how to customize your blog post template using Elementor, you might also be interested in learning how to customize your blog overview page.
