4 ways to get more traffic to your sales page

Reading Time: 3 minutes

When your sales page isn’t making you sales, it might not be a problem with your sales page.

Imagine you’ve just re-decorated your dining room. It’s gorgeous and great for inviting guests over. You make delicious meals and talk about something really interesting every day, but no one is coming over. You’re just talking to yourself, and maybe a few family members, in your dining room.

What went wrong?

You forgot to invite people over.

No matter how great your sales page is, if you don’t invite people over to it, you’re not going to make sales.

Below are 4 ways to get more traffic to your sales page – whether you’re preparing for a launch or you’re in a launch right now and aren’t getting traffic to your sales page.

The best way to get more traffic to your sales page is by strategically planning your launch, so you can create content and collaborate with other business owners – and grow your audience before you launch.

2 ways to get more traffic to your sales page when you’re preparing for a launch

1. SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

Getting traffic to your sales page is not the same as getting traffic to your website. SEO is good for your evergreen pages and blog posts but won’t help a lot to get traffic during a launch.

But it will help a lot if, leading up to your launch, you publish blog posts, podcast episodes, or YouTube videos that are related to the topic of your product or program. You can include an opt-in freebie or host a free webinar or challenge and build an email list of interested people that way.

2. Collaborations

Another way to grow your email list before your launch is by doing collaborations. Collaborate with other business owners who are helping a similar audience to yours but have a different kind of offer. If someone sees you as a competitor, they might be hesitant to collaborate. But if what you offer adds value to what they do, that’s gold. If you’re a copywriter, you could find designers that are working in the same niche as you.

You could host a summit or be a speaker at one, run a webinar or workshop with a business friend, write a guest post on other people’s sites, or be interviewed on a podcast.

2 ways to get more traffic to your sales page when you’re already in launch mode

But if you’re already in launch mode, SEO is not going to be a huge help, and unless you already have great relationships with people you could partner up with, and they have the time to collaborate pretty much immediately, that’s not going to help you either.

3. Social Media

During a launch, the best way to get more traffic to your sales page is by posting to social media more often, and optimize your hashtags to reach more people – and not just more people but the right people.

Even if you didn’t do so before your launch, if you’re not seeing the results you want, it can be worth a try to add a free webinar or challenge during your launch to reach more people.

4. Advertising

Another way to drive more traffic to your sales page during a launch is advertising, like Facebook and Instagram ads, but they can be tricky.

I recommend you only start using those once you’ve at least made some sales from free, organic traffic so that you know for sure that your sales page is converting well. How do you know? Track your conversion rate in Google Analytics, then see how it measures up against benchmarks and what you can do to improve your conversion rate.
